The State government has officially announced that the Zilla Panchayat elections in Goa will be held on December 13, according to an order issued by the Secretary of Panchayats on Tuesday.
The elections will cover both North Goa and South Goa Zilla Panchayats, comprising a total of 50 constituencies.
This announcement marks a key step in the State’s preparations for the upcoming local body polls. The Goa State Election Commission is taking measures to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the elections across both districts.
To facilitate the process, Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have been appointed for each district. These appointments have been made in accordance with the Goa Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules, 1996, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
The elections are expected to set the stage for renewed leadership at the district level, empowering local governance and strengthening grassroots democracy across Goa.
