The Goa Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic and parking restrictions ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Partagali Math in Poinguinim, Canacona, on November 28, 2025. The Prime Minister will inaugurate Asia’s tallest Lord Ram statue, standing an impressive 77 feet, at the historic Partagal Math.
The event comes as part of the ongoing “Sardha Panchashatamantossav”, marking 550 years of Shree Samasthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The celebrations run from November 27 to December 7 and are expected to draw thousands of devotees, saints, dignitaries, and VIPs.
Heavy Traffic Expected on NH-66
According to the Traffic Police, large crowds attending the PM’s visit will significantly impact vehicle movement. Heavy congestion is anticipated along:
- NH-66 from Pollem Check Post to Canacona
- NH-66 from Margao to the narrow Karmal Ghat stretch
With the expected surge of vehicles and footfall, authorities urge commuters to avoid these routes on November 28.
No Parking Zones Declared
To manage the surge in devotees and traffic, several stretches have been designated as No Parking Zones, including:
- NH-566 from Dabolim Junction to Shantinagar Junction
- NH-366 from Dabolim Junction to Chicalim Circle to Cortalim Junction
- NH-66 from New Zuari Bridge to the Western Bypass
- NH-66 merging from Verna to Benaulim Junction
- NH-66 from Benaulim to BCP Pollem, Canacona
- Old NH-66 from Char Rasta to Partagali Math
- Pollem Check Post to Partagali Math via Old NH-66
These restrictions will help streamline vehicle movement and ensure security during the PM’s visit.
Special Arrangements for Devotees and VIPs
Devotees arriving by bus or car will be allowed to drop off near the Mahadwar, after which all vehicles must proceed to designated parking zones.
VIPs will have separate parking and shuttle services arranged to transport them to the venue.
Entry to the event will be restricted after 1:30 PM on November 28 due to heightened security.
Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles
Because of the narrow Karmal Ghat stretch and anticipated VIP movement, a ban on heavy vehicle movement will be enforced from:
- 10 AM to 9 PM on November 28
This applies on the following routes:
- NH-66 from IDC Verna to Canacona
- NH-566 from Borim/Loutolim (SH-5) towards Arlem–Margao
- NH-66 towards Western Bypass
- NH-66 from IDC Cuncolim towards Canacona
- NH-66 from Pollem Check Post towards Canacona
Heavy vehicles will be diverted to designated holding areas at IDC Verna, IDC Cuncolim, Bythakhol to Bethora Bypass, and Varunapuri (Ponda).
Commuters Advised to Plan Ahead
With thousands expected to gather for the inauguration of the grand Lord Ram statue, traffic authorities request the public to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly. The event is of great cultural and spiritual significance, and the arrangements aim to ensure smooth, safe movement for all attendees.
